Half-way through 2022, our beloved friend and colleague, Liam O’Brien, was diagnosed with leukaemia.
Like thousands of other Australians battling blood disorders, to save his life Liam needed a stem cell donor. His Family and Friends started a social media campaign out of which grew…
We’re urgently calling on young Australians (aged 18-35) to join the Stem Cell Register. It’s the Life Saving List to help Aussies like Liam, who are battling blood cancer, find their stem cell match.
Over 135,000 Australians are living with blood cancer or a related blood disorder today, and over 5,950 lose their lives each year. Putting your name on the list means putting hope back into the lives of those still battling.
Listen to Liam’s report on three wonderful pieces of news – the third of which being that, “They’ve found me a donor!”
But for the rest of the over 100,000 Australians living with this threat, the clock is still ticking.
- If you are aged 18-35…
- Book to give blood via lifeblood.com.au or call 131495
- Select or mention ‘Life Saving List’ when booking
- Ask to be added to the Stem Cell Register at your appointment
- If you end up being a match, it’s a simple, non-invasive procedure similar to giving blood, that only takes a few hours and could save a life like Liam’s
