Managing through Change Course (Global)

Skills for people involved in managing staff and customers affected by change

Change management is an important part of any project that is going to affect people. Without effective change management, projects are at serious risk of running over time, producing undesired results, and not completely achieving the project’s goal.

The object of this two-module course is not to qualify learners as professional change managers. Instead it is intended to:

• Raise learners’ awareness of the challenges that change poses
• Introduce learners to the essential requirements for change to be successful
• Empower learners to exert influence to reduce the chances of a change project failing or being only partially successful

The first module introduces the requirements for a successful change management project; the second focuses on what is required in successfully supporting people – particularly staff – affected by a change project.

The lesson provides scenarios on issues that may arise when managing change. It also offers a number of historical cases that illustrate the subject matter of the course.
