Public Interest Disclosures in WA Course (Australia)

Public interest disclosures (PIDs) are reports about wrongdoing in the public sector that service the public interest. They alert oversight agencies to potential misconduct and allow for the investigation and prosecution of serious wrongdoing. In WA, public sector whistleblowing is regulated under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003 (WA).

Using a combination of scenarios and quiz-based learning, this course ensures that learners are familiar with their statutory obligations and equipped with practical skills necessary for making a disclosure.

A dedicated manager’s module outlines the obligations on Principle Executive Officers, managers, and PID Officers when receiving a disclosure, or referring a whistleblower to an authorised person. Risk management processes and mandatory PID policies are also explored in this module, as well as the rules surrounding the investigation of a PID.
