This hands-on workshop turns ASIC’s revised RG 234 from guidance into the necessary steps for the creation, review and approval of financial advertising and marketing campaigns. Participants will work through de-identified advertising examples, apply a repeatable review method, and test how well current approval processes manage misleading conduct risk across financial products, financial services and credit advertising.
Facilitated by Louise Matthews – Senior Risk & Compliance Legal Consultant, GRC Solutions, the session will help compliance, legal, risk, marketing, product, distribution and governance teams calibrate judgement, strengthen sign-off processes, and build practical controls for advertising review, substantiation, escalation and record keeping.
What you’ll learn:
- Applying RG 234 requirements in practice
- Common pitfalls and areas of heightened risk
- Reviewing marketing and promotional materials against regulatory expectations
- Practical case studies, discussion exercises and peer learning opportunities
- How to build or refine an advertising governance framework
Participants will leave with practical workshop outputs, including an annotated advertising checklist, approval workflow template, a maturity self-assessment and a 30 / 60 / 90 day action plan to support implementation of ASIC’s revised RG 234.
